These Special Events are...well...special. They typically happen once a year, and everybody on the website can participate in them. They're meant for all the members of the site to enjoy, have some fun, and gather up more posts (naturally.)
There are TWO kinds of these Special Event Threads: Combat, and Non-Combat. I'm pretty sure that's self-explanatory, right?
Special Website-Wide Event Listing:
--The New Year's Fest--
(December 31st-January 30th)
In the Village of the White Lotus, upon the back of the Lost Lion Turtle, the celebration of the New Year is held--this involves food, games, and vast amounts of entertainment as far as the eyes can see, with anything your imagination can conjure. Each year has a different theme depending on which year of the Chinese Calendar it is. (Rabbit, Monkey, Dragon, etc.)
However...this event can become just as combat-oriented as it can be pleasure-filled...
--Budding Blossom Celebration--
(April 1st-May30th)
A festival dedicated to the coming of spring and the element of earth, this party is held in the park of Republic City, where Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom. Filled with music, dancing, good food, and plenty of art, this is something you don't want to miss out on!
However...this event can become just as combat-oriented as it can be pleasure-filled...
--Soulflame Carnival--
(June 20th-August-8th)
Every year upon the shores of Ember Isle, a traveling carnival comes to town, bringing mysterious trinkets, treasures, and plenty of entertainment: food, drinks, and games line the streets, while the carnival keepers perform wonderful feats of magic and mystery. It is a celebration dedicated to the coming of spring, and the element of fire, held in high esteem by all nations since the end of the 100 Year War.
However...this event can become just as combat-oriented as it can be pleasure-filled...
--Autumnbreeze Bazaar--
(October 18th-November-3rd)
In Republic City, a relatively new sort of holiday has arisen in note of the recent unrest of the Spirit World: denizens of the Material world dress as ghouls, monsters, and creatures from not only nature, but that of the Spirit Plane in homage to the balance between their two lands. In addition to the vendors which line the streets in the bitter fall cold, selling items of all sorts, there are kindhearted souls who pass out treats to those adorned in costume--symbolizing a tribute to those that are portrayed--a sign of peace towards those who had been driven from our realm.
However...this event can become just as combat-oriented as it can be pleasure-filled...
--The Day of Beginnings--
(November 9th)
A mysterious figure appears in the world...although for what purpose, nobody can truly say...
((NOTE: This is the official birthday of the website. Experience gained in this topic is DOUBLED.))
--The Glacial Spirits Festival--
(December)
In the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, a tradition of food, games, and merriment has sprung from what was once a celebration of the Spirits. It is thought by most outsiders to be a holiday not only for the spirits, but the Water Tribes themselves. Although there are mixed feelings about how to 'properly' celebrate the day, both spiritual and non-spiritual folks journey to both poles in order to partake in the holiday. After the day of celebration, a day of thanking the spirits is often had, with the final evening of the season being used to give gifts to others as a symbol of peace.
